Susan Williams, RYT 200, began yoga with a Patricia Walden beginner’s video around 2001. Craving more, she sought out a weekly hatha class at her local gym. A year later, she began taking weekly classes from certified Iyengar instructor Karen Allgire in Cleveland. After one year of study with Karen at Green Tara Yoga, she began taking vinyasa based classes from various Cleveland teachers. In 2008, she moved to Miami, FL where she began taking classes at Green Monkey, Corpo Yoga, and ultimately, Miami Life Center, where she began Mysore style Ashtanga practice. It was through this practice with the highly dedicated and experienced teachers there (especially Ana Guerra, Tim Feldmann, Javier Lopez, Day Christensen, Patrick Nolan, and Kino MacGregor) that she realized yoga could be more than body conditioning and stress relief, but a daily practice that informed all areas of her life. Susan completed her 200-hour training at Centered Yoga in Koh Samui, Thailand with Paul Dallaghan, Elonne Stockton, Arielle Nash-Degagne, Amy Arman, and Paul Chambers. By trade, Susan is a classically trained soprano and Assistant Professor of Voice at The University of Alabama, having received her BM, MM, and DMA degrees in Vocal Performance. She loves all cats and is a shameless dark chocolate addict.
